Literacy: Theme: We Are Special

Tuesday and possibly Wednesday we (Mrs. Lull and I) will be finishing up individual assessments. These assessments will show us what the kids know and where we need to start with instruction.

Poems: Today is Monday, Hey Diddle Diddle, To Market, to Market

Read Alouds (includes listening comprehension, discussion, retelling): Animals in the Park: An ABC Book, Signs in the Park

Writing: Independent: Children will draw and write about their favorite animal (and act it out too!), a sign they see outside. Shared: I am _____ (name). I see _____. Diagrams: Word Web - Signs We See

Letter Recognition: Letters a, b, c, d

High Frequency Words: I
First Grade:
Phonics and Writing:
- We will be learning about the materials that we will be using throughout the year such as whiteboards, dry erase markers, Echo the owl, quick drill cards, and the stationary which has a sky line, plane line, grass line, and a worm line.
- We will review the letters t, b, and f (sky line letters), n, m, c, and a (all plane line letters)
- We will begin putting these letters in alphabetical order.
- We have already used our new journals last week and we will egin our "6-Trait" method of writing starting with ideas.
Math:
- Placing an object on a graph
- Number writing (spread out over the whole week!!) 0, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9
- Shape talking...How many sides, corners, how they are the same/different
- Graphing pictures, identifying most and fewest, identifying left and right
- "Cup Line-Up" Game
