Special Education Program
Mission Statement
The mission of the Special Education Program at Washington Elementary is to provide specialized instruction, support, and services to allow our students to reach their fullest potential. Individual needs' and corresponding programs are developed and designed for the students to be successful. Each student is given as much access as possible to the general curriculum so that he/she can meet the educational standards that apply to all students.
Special Educator
Jane Johnson has been the special educator at WES for over 20 years. She holds certifications in General Special Education and Learning DIsabilities. Her Master's Degree in Education has an emphasis on literacy instruction. The nature of our small school allows our special educator and service providers to develop long term relationships with students and their families. In the warm weather Mrs. Johnson enjoys kayaking on the many lakes and ponds in the area. She enjoys snowshoeing and cross country skiing on the trails around the school in the snowy months.
